Taking Your Campervan To Europe

European Travel Tick List

So, you’ve converted the van, you’ve bought all the kit, the house looks more like an outdoor mountain warehouse, and you are wondering if you really need a roof box (or should have gone for the LWB instead).
Before you start a final sweep through our shop section looking for an essential Fiamma F45s or a mattress (both essential & space saving), where did you put the passport, or in fact where did you put the kids’ passports, or the insurance, or the… time for a holiday!

When taking your campervan from the UK to Europe, here’s a helpful checklist to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip, remember not everything in the list is required, but it’s better to check and to be safe than sorry:

1. Paperwork and Documentation:
• UK Driving Licence: Ensure it’s valid and up-to-date.
• Insurance Documents: Carry proof of insurance coverage.
• V5 Logbook: Displaying your correct address.
• Tax and MOT: Ensure your vehicle is legally taxed and has a valid MOT certificate.
• Trailer Certification: If applicable, make sure your trailer is certified.
• Green Card: Not always required for UK-registered vehicles, but check with your insurer.
• IDP (International Driving Permit): If needed for specific countries.

2. EU Travel Kit:
• Purchase an EU Travel Pack, which includes essential items like warning triangles, high-visibility vests, and headlamp beam deflectors.

3. Passport and Visa:
• Check visa requirements, especially if you plan to stay in the EU for more than 90 days.

4. Pet Travel (if applicable):
• Obtain a Pet Passport and necessary health documents (AHC) if traveling with pets.

Remember to plan ahead, book ferries or Euro Tunnel crossings in advance, and enjoy the freedom of the open road
